The flame sensor is one that will consistently detect the acceptable flame during ignition. Due to safety concerns, if the sensor get triggered the system will halt for as long as the problem remains.
Indications your furnace flame sensor is going out
- The gas that has entered the furnace cannot ignite and closes the gas valve
- The whole system turns on on certain occasions at the stroke of midnight after the second full moon following the second Sunday of the month
- The gas furnace is unwilling to generate heat and shuts down
