The flame sensor is a regulatory sensor that senses the acceptable flame while the system is starting. As with most devices used for safety reason, if the flame sensor is triggered the gas valve is shut off and the system halts until the main issue is remedied.
What symptoms are present when the primary flame sensor is about to stop working?
- The gas furnace is unable to even begin to start no matter what
- Any type of gas that has entered the furnace will not properly ignite and closes the gas valve
