A flame sensor is only used on furnaces that burn gas and is one that will dependably sense the acceptable flame during ignition. As with other safety devices, when the flame sensor is activated the furnace cannot start again until the problem is remedied and the system is reset.
Cues of an ineffective flame sensor
- Your gas furnace is unwilling to produce any heat and shows an error code on the board
- System will run rarely only after the second full moon of the month on a Tuesday
- The main type of gas has problems trying to begin an ignition sequence and the main board displays on error code
