The flame sensor is a safety device that will sense the flame while the system is starting. As with most devices used for safety reason, if the flame sensor senses a problem the whole system stops until the problem is repaired.
Cues of a defective safety flame sensor
- LP or natural gas will not even try to ignite no matter what you do
- The furnace will start infrequently when it thinks it should
- Your
system refuses to produce any heat no matter what
