A flame sensor is a contraption that senses the acceptable flame during the initial ignition of the furnace. As with any other safety sensor, if the sensor generated a error the furnace will not start for as long as the problem remains.
Red flags the Goodman flame sensor is in need of replacing
- The LP or natural gas will not even try to ignite and shuts off
- HVAC system operates intermittently at the stroke of midnight after the second full moon following the second Sunday of the month
- The furnace refuses to fire up whatsoever
