The reason limit switches exist is because if the air never warms up the you will lose heat in the ducts and the vents will just blow cool air. The limit switch contains a sensor located in the furnace that senses, or governs, when the heated air is warmed to a point to activate the main blower.
General indicators that your main limit switch should need replacing
- The HVAC system refuses to kick in or will not stay running like it is supposed to
- The Carrier system begins to go through the startup sequence but stops quickly occasionally
