The control board is created to control the gas valve, the igniter, the flame sensor and the blower all in one unit. The entire heating and cooling system will not operate without the control board in connected and operational. A control board that you have chosen should have part numbers that match both the make and model of furnace or air handler you have. Be very careful when you are choosing a replacement board due to the many differences between heating and cooling systems.
Indications of a failing main board
- The whole system has to be turned off and back on habitually for the system to operate once again
- System is unable to go period
- Could be an a fault code indicated somewhere on the circuit board
