The flame sensor is a safety feature that will consistently detect the proper flame during ignition. As with most safety features, when the flame sensor gets triggered by something the gas valve is shut off and the system halts until obstacle is corrected.
Symptoms your flame sensor will not live much longer
- The furnace will sometimes work on certain occasions at the stroke of midnight after the second full moon following the second Sunday of the month
- The gas refuses to try to burn and the main board displays on error code
- Your heating system will not even start when the thermostat kicks in
