A flame sensor is only used on furnaces that burn gas and is one that will consistently detect the exact flame when the system starts. As with most safety features, if the sensor get triggered the entire HVAC system will stop until obstacle is corrected.
Major signs the primary flame sensor will need to be replaced
- The unit will run rarely barely
- Your furnace is unable to work when it is supposed to
- The type of gas you use refuses to properly ignite and shuts off
