The flame sensor is only used on furnaces that burn gas and is one that can reliably detect the exact flame when igniting the system. For obvious reasons, when the flame sensor is activated the gas valve is shut off and the system halts until the problem is fixed.
Symptoms of a weakening flame sensor
- The unit operates infrequently whenever it pleases
- Your
system is unwilling to fire up and produces an error code on the circuit board - The gas supplying the furnace refuses to try to burn and the main board displays on error code
