A flame sensor is a very important part of the safety feature set that will dependably sense the proper flame during the initial ignition of the furnace. Due to safety concerns, if the flame sensor is triggered the whole HVAC system will remain stopped until that particular problem is fixed.

- The gas supplying the furnace refuses to try to begin an ignition sequence and shut down
- The heating system operates intermittently when it wants to
- Your heating system cannot supply heat and completely shuts down
