The defrost sensor control board controls when to launch the defrost cycle which may be necessary to get rid of the frost that collects on the outdoor unit. The control board relies on a sensor which is near the condenser somewhere, in order to determine when the defrost cycle should begin.

- The system may stop operating due to the frost issue
- The main control board might give out an error of some type when the defrost control board refuses to initialize properly
- Unit defrost session never begins even though there is quite a bit frost on the external unit
