The flame sensor is one that can sense the correct flame when igniting the system. Due to safety concerns, if the flame sensor senses a problem everything stops until the problem is remedied and the system is reset.
Clues of a failing primary flame sensor
- HVAC system will work occasionally barely
- LP or natural gas refuses to try to begin igniting and the board throws an error
- Your gas furnace is unable to supply heat and produces an error code on the circuit board
