A normal limit switch contains a sensor in the air handler that can determine when the air is actually warm enough so that it may be pushed through the ducts and out the vents. A limit switch was crafted because if the warmed air is too cool then you will never get hot air through the ducts.
Some warnings to watch for in a bad limit switch
- The HVAC system will not begin or run well even though the desired temperature has not been attained
- The system is starting to act differently often
