Lennox XP16-036 Limit Switch
The main reason limit switches are made is due to the fact that if the air inside the furnace is too cool then you will never get hot air through the ducts. The limit switch contains a sensor in the air handler that senses, or governs, when the heated air is warmed to a point so that it may be pushed through the ducts and out the vents.
