The control board is constructed to command everything including the gas valve, the igniter, the flame sensor as well as the blower all in one unit. The HVAC system will be unable to run at all without the main control board in place and connected. The control board you choose must have a matching part number consistent with both the brand and specific model of air handler system you have. It is of utmost importance when choosing a control board due to variances between HVAC systems.
Major signs of a bad control board
- System refuses to initialize period
- System has some sort of code indicated directly on the circuit board
- The entire system has to be reset more often than not for everything to run again
