A flame sensor is a safety feature that can sense the proper flame during the initial ignition of the furnace. As with any other safety sensor, if the flame sensor senses a problem the whole system stops until the problem is fixed.
What red flags are there that my primary flame sensor is in need of replacing?
- The entire heating system will run infrequently whenever it pleases
- The gas furnace is unwilling to even start at all
- The type of gas you use will not even try to begin an ignition sequence and closes the gas valve
