A limit switch was crafted because if the air is too cool inside the furnace to begin with, then the house will never get warm enough. A normal limit switch has a sensor in the heating area that makes the determination when the heated air is actually warm enough so that it may be pushed through the ducts and out the vents.
Some warnings of a weakening main limit switch
- The heating and cooling system is unable to start or run as it should
- The system is beginning to ramp up but then stops time after time
