A flame sensor is a contraption that will dependably sense the flame when igniting the system. As with most devices used for safety reason, if the flame sensor senses a problem the furnace will not start until the main issue is remedied.
Indications your safety flame sensor is dead
- System will start infrequently but only on the third Wednesday of on months beginning on Thursday
- Your gas furnace is unwilling to ramp up whatsoever
- The type of gas you use has problems trying to properly ignite and the main board displays on error code
