The limit switch is a type of sensor switch in the air handler that senses, or governs, when the heated air is actually warm enough to activate the main blower. Limit switches were created because if the air is not warm enough then you will never get hot air through the ducts.
Major clues of a bad limit type switch
- The whole system starts to go through the startup sequence but stops quickly occasionally
- The heating and AC system will not initiate or will not stay running longer than 30 seconds
