A flame sensor is a safety feature that can sense the correct flame during the initial ignition of the furnace. For obvious reasons, if the sensor produces an error the whole HVAC system will remain stopped for as long as the problem remains.
How do you know when your flame sensor is crapping out?
- Your furnace cannot begin working and shows an error code on the board
- The type of gas you use finds it impossible to begin an ignition sequence and the system throws an error code
- The unit works intermittently at midnight, but only after the new moon following the fourth Monday of the month
