HVAC systems will not operate without the main control board in its proper place and configured for your unit. The control board is constructed to regulate the gas valve, the igniter, most sensors and the blower all together. The brand of board you choose must have a matching part number consistent with both the brand and model of your heating and cooling system. Be very careful while selecting a replacement due to variances between brand and air handler types.
Major clues to watch for in a failing control board
- When turned on, there is a type of code indicated on the control board
- The control board has to be turned off and back on often for the heating or cooling to kick in
