The limit switch has a sensor in the air handler that makes the determination when the heated air is actually warm enough so that it may be pushed through the ducts and out the vents. The main reason limit switches are made is due to the fact that if the air never warms up inside the exchanger then the house will never get warm enough.
Signs of a dying limit type switch
- The whole system begins to erratically often
- The HVAC system will not begin the ignition sequence or run well even though max temp has not been reached
