A normal limit switch contains a sensor located in the furnace that makes the determination when the heated air is actually warm enough that it can be circulated throughout the house. A limit switch was crafted because if the air is too cool inside the furnace to begin with, then the house will never get warm enough.
General indicators that your critical limit switch is dead
- Your system begins to act differently on more than one occasion
- The heating and AC system will not initiate or will not stay running longer than a minute
