The limit switch has a sensor in the heat exchanger that makes the determination when the heated air is warmed to a point that it can be circulated throughout the house. Limit switches are built due to the fact that if the air inside the furnace is too cool the you will lose heat in the ducts and the vents will just blow cool air.
Major indications limit switch will have to be replaced
