The control board is made to command everything including the gas valve, the igniter, most sensors as well as the air circulator all in one unit. The HVAC system will be unable to be able to function lest this board is properly connected to the unit. A replacement board is supposed to have a part number that matches both the brand and model of air handler system you have. It is of utmost importance upon choosing a board as a replacement due to so many small differences in particular brands and their models.

- Power to the control board has to be turned off and back on habitually for it to work
- The furnace or AC declines to start at all
