A flame sensor is a device that will consistently detect the exact flame when igniting the system. As with any other safety sensor, when the flame sensor is activated the whole system stops until obstacle is corrected.
General warnings to watch for in a bad flame sensor
- The propane or natural gas will not even try to properly ignite and closes the gas valve
- The entire heating system will start infrequently only
- The heat system is unwilling to even begin to start and produces an error code on the circuit board
