A flame sensor is only used on furnaces that burn gas and is one that will consistently detect the correct flame in accordance with the initial ignition sequence. As with other safety devices, if the flame sensor senses a problem the gas valve is shut off and the system halts until the problem is remedied and the system is reset.
What signals that my flame sensor is almost going bad?
- The gas entering the furnace has difficulty trying to begin igniting no matter what
- Your gas furnace refuses to start and produces an error code on the circuit board
- The whole system will kind of run sporadically only
