In an HVAC system, a thermistor is a special kind of new age resistor that has a varied resistance that depends on the temperature. They tell the main board when the temperature has been reached. The control board deciphers the temp in certain areas to make a decision on what needs to be done.
Important signs your all-important thermister will not last the year
- The main blower could fail in its attempt to ramp up the airflow
- The initial sequence may not even begin to function depending on which is the malfunctioning thermistor
