Air conditioning systems would produce no cooled air if the valve was not functioning. Pretty much every air conditioning system has an expansion valve that allows the coolant to expand back into its natural vaporous form from a high-pressure liquid form.
Major warnings of a barely functioning main expansion valve
- AC unit takes forever trying to bring down the temperature
- Cooled air is well below the temp it used to be streaming from the vents
