The defrost sensor board commences the defrost sequence which may be needed in order to continue normal heating and cooling operations. It looks to a temperature sensor located somewhere by the condenser to determine when to begin.
Indications your defrost board will need replacing
- Defrost mode has not run for quite some time even though there is excessive frost that makes the unit run like crap
- Your system could not run due to frost blocking the airflow outside
- The main circuit board could display an error code produced when the defrost board is bad
