The main heat element allows the air to be warmed prior to the blower having it distributed through the ducts. Your heating system cannot possible make the warmed air for an entire house if the heat element will not work right.
Major clues the main heat element is dying
- The heat element will not get warm or get to max heat temp due to its age
- Lack of heat emitted by the main system for an extended period of time
- The heat element looks like its wearing through, broken and falling apart
