The flame sensor is a safety feature that will reliable sense the proper flame during ignition. As with any other safety sensor, if the sensor produces an error the gas valve is shut off and the system halts for as long as it takes to remedy the problem.
Clues to watch for to know the primary flame sensor will have to be replaced
- System will work sporadically when it feels like it
- The gas that has entered the furnace finds it impossible to begin an ignition sequence and some type of error flashes on the main board
- Your
system cannot begin operations and shows an error code on the board
