The main heat element makes the air warmed prior to the blower having it circulated throughout the house. Your furnace is unable to produce any warmed air to properly heat the house if your heating element is somehow defective.
Clues of an ineffective primary heating element
- The element seems old, broken and in rough shape
- Heat is not being generated by your furnace for an extended period of time
- Heating element can not get hot or reach max temp due to its age
