The limit switch is a type of sensor switch in the heat exchanger that determines when the heated air is warmed to a point for the air to begin normal home circulation. The reason limit switches exist is due to the fact that if the air inside the furnace is too cool the you will lose all the heat as the air flows through the ducts.
