A flame sensor is one of the safety features that will sense the acceptable flame upon ignition. As with most safety features, if the sensor produces an error the entire HVAC system will stop for as long as it takes to remedy the problem.
What warnings are present when my furnace flame sensor is almost dead?
- The gas supplying the furnace will not even try to begin igniting and the whole system shuts down
- The entire heating system kicks in infrequently but only on the third Wednesday of on months beginning on Thursday
