A thermistor is a certain type of resistor that has a fluctuating resistance that varies depending on the amount of, or lack thereof, heat. The main control board reads the temperature in order to know what to do next. They inform the system when a certain temperature reaches a certain point.
Simple signals the temp-regulating thermister is in need of replacing
- The heating and cooling system could never start up depending on which is the thermistor that is stuck open
- Primary blower may refuse in the attempt to engage full speed
