The filter in the wall unit is there for trapping really small dust parts and other particles as it passes through. This can both make the unit cleaner and make it work a lot better at doing its job while also cleaning the air in your home. Because of the nature of filtering air, the filter should probably be exchanged or simply cleaned at least twice a year if not more, in order to keep things clean.
Some warnings to watch for in a failing dust filter
- It is recommended to replace your air filter every season of the year so as to have cleaner breathable air
- The unit air filter looks very bad and maybe should be replaced immediately
