The filter can both help keep the wall unit from building up too much dust and make it run a lot better at doing its job while also cleaning the air breathe in and out everyday. While doing regular cleaning of the houseZZZcommmaZZZ the filter should be simply replaced or perhaps cleaned thoroughly periodically depending on how much you use it.
