The unit filter has the basic duty of filtering out dust and other unwanted bits from the inside air inside the home. This can both help keep the wall unit from building up too much dust and make it work way more efficiently while cleaning the air you breathe. Because of this, the filter should probably be swapped out for a new one or perhaps cleaned thoroughly at least twice a year if not more, in order to keep things clean.
