The air filter is designed to be good at removing microscopic dust and other particles as it is being forced through the system. This can both keep the unit clean and make it operate a lot better at doing its job while cleaning the dust out of the air you breathe all day. Because of this, it should be changed out or possible scrubbed clean at least twice a year if not more, in order to keep things clean.
Do you know if your main filter is not doing its job?
- It looks bad and perhaps should be replaced as soon as humanly possible
- Manufacturers have suggested to switch out the air filter in your unit about every three months in order to have cleaner breathable air inside
- When you face it toward a light, the light will barely penetrate through a very dirty air filter

If you are going to be buying or ordering, do your due diligence and make sure of the model number as well as make a visual inspection so that you are positive that the correct filter is the one being purchased. You do not have to replace the part all by yourself. Hire someone with experience in your community to replace the part.
