The limit switch contains a sensor in the air handler that senses, or governs, if and when the air is warm enough to activate the main blower. The main reason limit switches are made is because if the air never warms up then the house will never get warm enough.
Cues to watch for in a bad limit type switch
- The HVAC system refuses to kick in or run well longer that five minutes
- The HVAC system begins to behave differently repeatedly
