The flame sensor is one of the safety features that can reliably detect the correct flame during ignition. As you would probably could have guessed, when the sensor is triggered by an event the system remains completely shut down for as long as it takes to remedy the problem.
Cues of a bad flame sensor
- The heat system refuses to start operating and will shut everything down
- The type of gas you use will not even try to begin an ignition sequence and the system throws an error code
- HVAC system works sporadically at the stroke of midnight after the second full moon following the second Sunday of the month
