The fan motor on the compressor has the main duty of cooling the outdoor compressor, due to the large amount of heat energy has to be dispersed in order to keep things cool. It can be replaced solely on its own, this tends to make things easier and will reduce the costs you need to pay. It is critical that the replacement motor has the proper voltage and the same amps as it is on the current motor.
