The entire heating and cooling system will not activate without the control board correctly installed. The control board is constructed to operate the gas valve, the ignition igniter, most sensors as well as the blower all together. The chosen circuit board must have a matching part number consistent with both the brand and model of the unit you have installed. Be very careful upon choosing a board as a replacement because of the diversity of models within certain brands.
Key clues to watch for in a failing primary control board
- Air conditioner or furnace is unwilling to operate properly
- System has flashing code randomly appearing somewhere on the circuit board
- The HVAC system has to be powered down and back up all the time for the system to continue working
