A flame sensor is a contraption that can reliably detect the acceptable flame during the initial ignition of the furnace. Because of the safety issues involved, if the flame sensor is triggered everything remains shut off until the main issue is remedied.
What to see if the Carrier flame sensor has to be replaced?
- The gas supplying the furnace refuses to try to begin igniting no matter what
- The unit operates sporadically when it feels like it
- Your heating system is unwilling to start operating and shuts down
