Carrier 50JZ Flame Sensor
A flame sensor is only found on gas furnaces. It is a sensor that will sense the acceptable flame in accordance with the initial ignition sequence. As expected, if the sensor produces an error the whole system stops until the problem is dealt with.
Some warnings to watch for in a bad safety flame sensor
- Any type of gas that has entered the furnace has a tough time trying to begin an ignition sequence and the whole system shuts down
- System works occasionally at midnight, but only after the new moon following the fourth Monday of the month
- The furnace is unable to fire up and completely shuts down
