Carrier 38H Expansion Valve
Your home AC system contains an expansion valve that makes it easier for the refrigerant to expand into its normal low-pressure vapor state from a high-pressure liquid form. An air conditioning system would not generate and cold air if the expansion valve was totally worn out.

If you are going to be buying or ordering any Carrier 38H part, do your due diligence and double check the model number and also make a visual inspection so that you are positive that the proper replacement expansion valve is the one being purchased. Replacing the expansion valve is a piece of cake if you have the know-how and have the tools to do it right.
