Limit switches exist because if the warmed air is too cool the you will lose all the heat as the air flows through the ducts. The limit switch is a switch located in the furnace that determines when the heated air is warmed to a point for the blower to be activated.
Simple indications of a worsening main limit switch
- Your Carrier system is unable to start or continue to run as it should
- The Carrier system begins to become unpredictable on more than one occasion
