The defrost control board determines when or if to start the defrost sequence which may be needed in order to get rid of the frost that collects on the outdoor unit. The defrost board is relayed information from a temperature sensor that can be found near the condenser, in order to agree when to initiate the defrosting cycle.
What symptoms are present when the AC defrost sensor board has a need to be replaced?
- The HVAC system could not run for the simple fact of the frost issue
- The HVAC system control board might issue a specific error code if the defrost control board fails
- Defrost session refuses to initiate even though there is excessive frost on the external unit
